Provocative Series Black Mirror is Coming to Your Bookshelves
Fans of the caustic series will be happy to learn that the innovative and shocking world of Black Mirror is about to get its own book anthology!
The publishing company Penguin Random House announced earlier this week that it has ordered a 3-volume series of books based on the acclaimed TV show.
Overseen by Black Mirror‘s creator, Charlie Brooker, the titles are set to be published starting next year, from the month of February.
None of the original stories that will form each volume have been written yet, but it is said that popular writers will join the project to pen the collection of short, dark tales.
“All-new Black Mirror stories from exciting authors — that’s a joyous prospect,” commented Charlie Brooker. “And they’re appearing in a high-tech new format known as a ‘book’. Apparently, you just have to glance at some sort of ‘ink code’ printed on paper and images and sounds magically appear in your head, enacting the story. Sounds far-fetched to me, but we’ll see.”
Created in 2011, Black Mirror – which centres around satirical themes that examine and challenge modern society through pretty gloomy depictions of an alternative present or the near future – first aired on British Channel 4 before getting its third and fourth seasons commissioned by Netflix following the show’s success among audiences around the world.
The season 4 of Black Mirror is expected to arrive on Netflix toward the end of this year, so the wait between its transition from screen to page shouldn’t be too long!
