Could A24’s New Horror Movie Be the Most Disturbing of the Year?

Just when you thought horror films couldn’t get any creepier.

The independent entertainment company A24 is starting 2018 with a bang – a very, very freaky one. Still surfing on the success of The Florida Project, The Disaster Artist and Lady Bird, all nominated for Academy Awards, the distributor of The Witch and Killing of a Sacred Deer has decided to further expand its horror portfolio by outdoing itself with what seems to be one of the most disturbing films ever.

Want proof? See for yourself with the trailer of Hereditary, below.

Starring Toni Collette, Gabriel Byrne, Alex Wolff, and Ann Dowd, Hereditary explores the influence of sinister parentage when a rather spooky family member casts a dark shadow over her descendants, menacingly turning their lives upside-down.

The full story: Following the death of her reclusive mother, Annie Graham (Collette) suspects a presence was left behind and feeds on her loner teenage daughter, Charlie (Milly Shapiro), who starts demonstrating a troubled fascination for everything morbid (cutting a pigeon’s head and, you know, totally healthy stuff like that). From then on, Annie’s family will be under threat by a powerful supernatural force it seemingly can’t escape from.

Recently screened at the Sundance Film Festival, the chilling tale by new director Ari Aster is already being praised by critics and currently has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

A very promising start for the upcoming feature film that will, without doubt, leave a mark!
