Discover the Trailer for ‘I Am Heath Ledger’, Spike TV’s Tribute Documentary

“He was always a director, acting was just a way to get there,” says one of Heath Ledger’s childhood friends in this new trailer for Spike TV’s upcoming documentary, I Am Heath Ledger, which will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 23, offering never-seen-before footage shot by Ledger himself.

Airing later on Spike TV on May 17 at 10PM and in selected theaters on May 3, the production will deliver an intimate portrait of the talented actor who passed away 9 years ago, with numerous interviews of colleagues and close friends.

Heath Ledger was only 28 when he was found dead in his apartment on January 2008. But despite his young age, the artist already had a brilliant career that included many brilliant performances and successes like 10 Things I Hate About YouBrokeback Mountain, I’m Not there., and, of course, The Dark Knight.

I Am Heath Ledger will shed light on Ledger’s fearless personality. “If it wasn’t on the edge, it didn’t interest him,” says musician Ben Harper in the trailer. It will also reveal the actor’s passion for directing as we learn that he would never be seen without a camera in his hands, as well as his love/hate relationship with his celebrity status.
