Discover The Crazy Amount of Work SNL’s VFX Team Handles in no Time

“SNL creates a new show from scratch in under a week. By the time the footage gets to the visual effect team, they have less than 12 hours.” Yep, you read it right.

While it’s a known fact that Saturday Night Live‘s live performances represent a real challenge for the stage crew and the comedians when a total change of set is required in an extremely short amount of time, the impressive execution of all the special effects added to each episode also deserves a round of applause.

And to pay tribute to the Visual Effect department, a video called ‘Creating Saturday Night Live: Visual Effects‘ was recently published on SNL’s official YouTube channel in order to reveal to the world just how much work the show’s VFX editors put into it in almost no time at all. Seriously, kudos to them!

And if you thought these are pretty mind-blowing skills, have a look at the video below, where you can also discover the unseen two-minute set change that goes down during the opening credits to transform SNL’s set from the cold open to the guest monologue (in only 140 seconds!). Insane.
