Just as reality dangerously flirts with fiction only a few days ahead of the highly anticipated House of Cards season 5 premiere, Netflix has decided to take the general discomfort to a new level by hiring Pete Souza, Barack Obama’s former chief official White House photographer, to follow fictional character, President Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey), escorted by bodyguards and his chief of staff, Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly), to take a series of “candid” pictures called ‘A Day in the Life of Frank Underwood‘ as he goes around Washington, D.C.
“Whether photographing the real president or a fictitious presidential character, it’s an exciting experience,” stated Pete Souza. “It was a pleasure working with Kevin and Michael and photographing them around some of D.C.’s most recognizable locations.”
Known for their provocative campaigns since House of Cards first launched on the VOD platform, Netflix’s marketing team want you to know that they’re not afraid to step up their promotional game by surfing on the currently alarmingly thin line between real life and the original series.
House of Cards will return to Netflix for a fifth season on May 30.
