Mel Gibson Plays a Bad Grandpa in Daddy’s Home 2 Trailer

Mel Gibson and John Lithgow join Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell in the first trailer for the sequel, Daddy’s Home 2, to play father figures we’ve kind of seen before…

Unsurprisingly, Gibson and Lithgow will portray very similar characters to those of Wahlberg and Ferrell in the first movie, giving a pretty logic explanation for the 2 original characters’ very distinct personalities.

In the new comedy, Brad and Dusty team up to provide their kids with a perfect Christmas, which means inviting their grandfathers. The trouble is that, just like them, the old men really have nothing in common and won’t get along – at all.

From the look of the 2-minute video preview above, Lithgow will play a very emotional and affectionate dad, reflecting Brad’s character (Ferrell), as opposed to Gibson, who, comparably to Dusty, will be introduced as a true bad boy.

Sean Anders will once again direct the comedy also starring Linda Cardellini, John Cena, and Alessandra Ambrosio.

Daddy’s Home 2 is set to hit theatres on November 10.
